With so much to see and do, the Mill at Conder Green is perfectly located to enjoy relaxing countryside pursuits with an array of shops, museums and historic attractions in the nearby city of Lancaster. From the mill step out into the heart of Lancashire’s countryside for walks through rolling countryside, or head along the banks of the canal and Estuary of the River Lune. Here you can enjoy wildlife trails and spot shy river otters, flocks of migrating sea birds and elegant families of swans, plus much more for the keen eyed observer.
Back at the Mill eat alfresco canal side whilst watching the narrow-boats gently plying the waters. Our position by the lock means you will marvel at the engineering, as heavy narrow-boats are effortlessly lifted and lowered by the sheer force of water and a combination of vast cogs, wheels and pulleys all working together to complete this impressive task.
Only 5 miles away discover the historic city of Lancaster, with its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and Victorian sandstone architecture. With plenty of familiar high street names plus many small boutiques shops you are sure to find something to take home. Lancaster also boats a number of museums, and a 13th century castle which was periodically extended over the ensuing centuries. The Lancashire witches were held at the castle whose sorry fate ended in the public hanging of 10 women during 1612 dubbed ‘The trail of the Pendle Witches’.
For the keen golfer you are less than ½ mile to Lancaster’s 18 hole course and at Lancaster University there are numerous popular sports facilities available. If you would like us to arrange or help with anything just contact reception.
So for a countryside stay-over just a stone’s throw from it all, visit the Mill at Conder Green and discover our canal side retreat you will love to return to time and time again.
